Annual congress of the Montenegrin Association of Medical Oncologists (CUMO)

In Budva, Montenegro, Marius Geanta, MD, PhD, President of INOMED and Coordinator of the 4P-CAN Project and CURTAIN Project, delivered a presentation titled European Guidelines for NCCPs.

The session traced how European cancer policy has evolved over recent years, moving from strategic vision documents toward implementation infrastructures rooted in communities. A key reference point was the 2019 INOMED position paper, A new vision for cancer in the European Union: data, technology and human touch.

The presentation also reflected on the role of National Cancer Control Plans, Romania's 2022 law for the prevention and combating of cancer, and the persistent inequalities in cancer prevention across Europe. It highlighted the need to move from standardised top-down prevention models toward community-based implementation that reaches people where they already are.

Using the experience of the Lerești Living Lab and the broader ecosystem of projects around 4P-CAN, the session underlined how prevention becomes more meaningful when it is built through participation, trust, health literacy, and long-term local infrastructures.

At the same event, another edition of the „Art of Networks” art exhibition was also presented. The participants were able to engage with the artwork and reflect on the themes of community, health, and prevention.
